This Juneteenth, we reflect on Kofi Boone’s lecture “Recognition, Reconciliation, Reparation”, given as part of University of Washington’s CBE Humanities, Histories, Futures Lectures Series. His lecture was an important reminder of not only how critical it is to stop and listen to understand the communities we serve, but also of how much damage we can cause by coming in only looking for a design problem to solve.

Earlier this month, we celebrated Landscape Architect KC Hermsen’s 1st FORA anniversary! KC has been a rockstar from day one, jumping right in with her strong creative spirit and professional expertise. As a Southern California transplant, KC always brings a little Point Break energy to the table. She came to the Northwest to attend the University of Washington, where she earned her Bachelor of Landscape Architecture as well as minors in Architectural Studies and Environmental Science. To this day, KC is still trying to get Washingtonia filifera to grow in the PNW.
Thank you KC!
