Hamlin Robinson Middle School

Project Overview

Located in Seattle’s Rainier Valley neighborhood in a compact urban site context, Hamlin Robinson is an independent school that offers a specialized multi-sensory teaching and learning program for students with dyslexia and related language difficulties. Fora provided the landscape design for the new Middle School, including the HRS Learning Center’s outdoor learning roof deck on the fourth floor that is sized for flexible use and will be open for community events. Natural wood seating and lush plantings with grasses and small trees were designed for the roof deck to reduce noise and distraction and provide an outdoor space to help reduce overstimulation from the classroom environment.
