Jake Woland joins Fora as Principal

It is with excitement that we announce Jake Woland, PLA, ASLA, LEED AP, has joined Fora as principal. Jake comes to the firm with 27 years of experience in the field, a portfolio spanning typologies, and a passion for landscape architecture that transforms communities and embraces joy and discovery.

Jake’s background in landscape architecture is emphasized by technical capabilities and artistry. His perspective is enriched by cross-market design—civic, retail, transportation, education, and housing, to name a few—cultivating a myriad of ideas and inspiration that benefit his approach.

“As landscape architects, we can read and respond to the land and project requirements while finding opportunities to create revelations and spark whimsy,” Jake says. “Designers can craft moments small-and-large that bring a little lightness to our world, we absolutely need more of this!”

In his career, he has made it a point to share his knowledge with the next generation, teaching urban design at Rutgers University, lecturing and mentoring students at University of Washington, and co-authoring the textbook Site Engineering for Landscape Architects. Jake also served as a member of the Seattle Design Festival Board of Directors where he furthered the nonprofit’s goal to make design, and the possibilities inherent in design, more accessible to the community.

As a principal at Fora, Jake will help guide our design practice and foster client, community, and project partner relationships. When asked what he most looks forward to in his role, Jake shares that “Fora’s culture and values create the type of work environment that anyone would be proud to be a part of. I look forward to ensuring that we continue to make decisions that preserve and build upon what makes our studio special.”

Please join us in welcoming Jake to Fora!
