Project Overview
Located in the heart of downtown Redmond, The Charles is a mixed-use residential building featuring multiple corner plazas, enhanced streetscapes, and a public pedestrian trail. Playful cube elements imbued with light and color enhance and provide a vibrant pedestrian experience. The cubes also provide seating opportunities for multiple groups, and as planters to soften the urban environs and create comfortable plaza spaces to welcome passersby. Adjacent to the lobby, granite cubes frame a water feature element that cascades from the building façade.
The courtyard terrace level visually continues the plaza language, flowing into the private courtyard to create multiple amenity lounge spaces for smaller groups, with plantings that mound up to support evergreen trees and provide screening to the private units. The Mountain Hemlock and Vanderwolf Pine trees create an experience that is very uniquely that of the Pacific Northwest, with multiple cozy fire pit lounges nestled between the trees.
