2026 Summer Field Trip

We ended summer with our annual Fora field trip day. This year we were fortunate enough to get private tours of two amazing gardens in the region – Heronswood Gardens and Bloedel Reserve!

Dr. Ross Bayton showed us around Heronswood, a 15-acre botanic garden located in Kingston that protects a vast array of plants from around the world, with over 8,000 different varieties spread across six distinct yet integrated gardens. He wowed us with his incredible plant knowledge and fun facts. Purchased by the Port Gamble S’Klallam Tribe in 2012, Heronswood now serves as a showcase for tribal culture.

Director of Horticulture and Design at Bloedel Reserve, Kaslin Daniels gave us a unique view of the 140-acre garden and forest preserve on Bainbridge Island. She impressed us with the wide array of work and outreach performed annually, as well as the numerous designers that have left their mark on the property over the years.
